CAESARSTONE, quartz surface pioneers - the original inventor and first company in the world to use natural quartz - now invite Design Students to create a design that will deliver the perfect harmony between sustainability and style. ZER02110, an innovative brief conceptualized by Jonathan Anstey of Stauch Vorster Architects, stimulates a conscious response towards the global initiative of environmental responsibility.
The brief challenges students to travel into a 2110 scenario, where Soweto is the business and fashion capital of the world. Innovation stewards are Zerton Energy Rehabilitation Orbitals (ZERO) who have redefined the human transportation industry. They invite design students to develop a new Conference and Exhibition Space to also function as a media centre, banqueting centre and ongoing showcase of the Zero 2110 range.
Judges will be looking at the creative use of CAESARSTONE within the overall scheme - the product does not dictate maximum or minimum usage but ask students to create innovative spatial and visual solutions by breaking preconceptions. Top prize for the winning student and lecturer is a two-day trip to Dubai, burgeoning architectural centre of the Middle East, followed by a visit to the Marmomacc Stone Fair in Verona Italy, a handsome reward totaling R35 000.
Against this blizzard of innovation, students will also learn about how CAESARSTONE revolutionized the surfaces market by leveraging quartz to create a brand new surfacing material in 1987. Now, CAESARSTONE devotees enjoy a surface that is far superior to natural stone. By combining 93% natural quartz aggregates with a small amount of pigments and polyster resins, CAESARSTONE delivers a surface of exceptional beauty, strength and durability.
CAESARSTONE will showcase the 10 finalists at Gallagher Estate, Decorex July 2008, with the winner being announced at the awards evening on 31 July 2008.
